15 UGG Outfits to Keep You Lookin' Fly and Feelin' Toasty
Every UGG boot outfit starts with one question: which UGG?
An Ultra Mini stops at the ankle bone. A Classic Tall reaches the top of the calf.
They need completely different trousers and skirts.
So this list is sorted by boot, not by occasion. The shaft height decides the hem. Start with the Ultra Mini under black flare leggings or the Classic Tall over skinny jeans, then find your boot below. UGG's slippers are a different story, covered in our UGG Tasman outfits, and for a heavier winter boot, see our Timberland boots outfits.
Which UGG boot, and which size
UGG's sales are still climbing: the brand reported $2.74 billion in net sales for its 2026 fiscal year, up 8.2 percent. Most of the attention is on the shorter boots. Prices below are from Zappos, an authorized UGG retailer.
| Boot | Price | Shaft | Sizing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Classic Ultra Mini | About $165 | Below the ankle bone | Check the listing |
| Classic Ultra Mini Platform | About $175 | Ultra Mini on a platform | Reviews split, some size down |
| Classic Mini II | About $175 | 5 in | True to size |
| Classic Short II | About $195 | 8 in | Runs large, UGG says size down |
| Classic Tall II | About $225 | 11.5 in, 16 in around | Runs large, UGG says size down |
Two more things before the outfits. UGG says its sheepskin is designed to be worn barefoot, for the most warmth. And darker colors may transfer a little dye at first, so be careful with pale jeans in a new black pair.
Ultra Mini and Mini (1 to 4)
A short shaft means the trouser hem can fall right over the boot.
1. Ultra Mini, black flare leggings, and a cropped zip fleece
Black flare leggings over chestnut Ultra Minis with a cropped zip fleece. The flare covers most of the boot, so you see a peek of chestnut suede at the toe. The cropped fleece shows your waist and balances the flare.
2. Bootcut jeans and a chunky cable crewneck
Bootcut jeans over Minis with a chunky cable sweater. Bootcut is cut to sit over a short boot, so it is the easiest jean for UGGs. Skinny jeans with a Mini can look dated. Bootcut looks current. Our fall outfit ideas have more cable-knit pairings.
3. Leather trousers and an oversized blazer
Straight leather trousers over black Ultra Minis with a tee and an oversized blazer. Black on black from the trousers down makes the boot read as a sleek flat shoe. Our leather pants outfits have more ideas.
4. Maxi slip dress and a denim jacket
A satin slip maxi dress with a denim jacket and Minis. The maxi falls to the top of the boot, so you see only the toe, and the shearling keeps your feet warm in a dress that otherwise belongs to summer.
Platform minis (5 to 7)
The platform adds height and makes the boot chunkier, which balances short skirts and dresses.
5. Suede mini skirt and a turtleneck
A suede mini, a fitted turtleneck, opaque tights, and Ultra Mini Platforms. Suede skirt and suede boot in close shades of tan and chestnut looks planned. The platform adds height that a short skirt likes.
6. Plaid pleated mini and a blazer
A plaid pleated mini, a blazer over a white shirt, knee socks, and black platforms. It is a preppy outfit with a soft boot instead of a loafer, which is what makes it look current rather than like a school uniform.
7. Sweater dress and knee socks
A short sweater dress with knee socks and platforms. The socks cover most of the leg, so you stay warm without tights. Our college outfits include a platform UGG look for campus.
Classic Short and Tall (8 to 11)
The Short sits mid-calf and the Tall reaches the top of the calf. Both run large, so check the size note.
8. Classic Tall over skinny jeans and a belted wrap coat
Skinny jeans tucked into Classic Talls, with a belted wrap coat. Only skinny jeans tuck in cleanly. The belt gives the outfit a waist above a lot of soft volume at the leg. The Tall tends to slouch at the ankle over time, which some people like and some do not.
9. Classic Tall with a knit midi dress
A knit midi dress whose hem falls over the top of the Classic Tall. A hem over the top of the boot keeps the leg warm and the line clean. Our knee-high boot guide explains why a small gap between hem and boot looks off.
10. Classic Short, corduroy mini, and a roll-neck
A corduroy mini, a roll-neck, brown tights, and Classic Shorts. Brown tights in the same family as the boot make the leg one color. Our winter skirt outfits list the tights denier for real cold.
11. Classic Short, a bouclé jacket, and cropped jeans
Cropped straight jeans that stop above the boot, a bouclé jacket, and a tee. The crop shows the whole boot, and the textured jacket matches the softness of the shearling. Do not tuck straight jeans into a Short. They bunch at the top.
Cold and snowy days (12 and 13)
12. Long down parka and fleece-lined leggings
A long down parka, fleece-lined leggings, and Classic Talls. The parka reaches past the top of the boot, so almost nothing is exposed. It is the warmest outfit on this list, as long as the snow is light. UGGs are not waterproof boots. Our Canadian outfit ideas cover what to wear in deep snow.
13. Shearling aviator and waxed jeans
A shearling aviator jacket with waxed jeans and Classic Shorts. Waxed denim sheds light rain and splashes better than regular jeans. The shearling on the jacket and on the boot ties the top and bottom together.
Plus-size friendly (14 and 15)
14. Ultra Mini Platform, wide-leg trousers, and a cropped knit
Wide-leg trousers over Ultra Mini Platforms with a cropped knit. The platform keeps wide hems off the ground, and the short boot avoids any calf-fit question. Our plus size Thanksgiving outfits have more wide-leg pairings.
15. Classic Short, a bias midi skirt, and an oversized cardigan
A bias-cut midi skirt with an oversized cardigan and Classic Shorts. The skirt hem sits well above the boot, which is the setting that works with a mid-calf shaft. The bias cut moves over the hip rather than pulling.
Care, and the downsides
UGG says to hand wash only. Wet the whole boot with cold water, clean with a sponge and UGG's cleaner, rinse, stuff with paper, and let them dry for about a day away from heat. Spray a protector before the first wear. UGG sells a full care kit for about $60.
- Not waterproof. Deep slush soaks through.
- The Classic Tall slouches over time.
- Heels can wear down unevenly, so the boot leans.
- The sizing changes between models. Read the size note every time.
- Darker colors can transfer dye to pale jeans at first.
For the full cold-weather look, our baddie winter outfits go bolder with fitted sets and statement coats.
Frequently Asked Questions
What do you wear with UGG boots?
It depends on the boot. Ultra Minis and Minis suit flares, bootcut jeans, leather trousers, and maxi dresses, since the hem can fall over or just above the short shaft. Platform minis balance short skirts and sweater dresses. The Classic Tall works over skinny jeans or with a midi dress, and the Classic Short with a mini skirt or cropped jeans.
Should you size down in UGG boots?
It depends on the model. UGG's notes on the Classic Short II and Classic Tall II say they run large and to order one size down. The Classic Mini II is listed as true to size, and reviewers are split on the Ultra Mini Platform. Check the model's size note before you order.
Are UGG boots waterproof?
The Classic boots are not sold as waterproof. Some models are described as water and stain resistant, and the Treadlite sole gives decent grip, but deep slush will soak through suede. Spray them with a protector before the first wear and keep them for dry or lightly snowy days.
Does UGG make wide-calf boots?
We could not find a wide-calf version of UGG's women's Classic boots. The Classic Tall II lists a 16-inch circumference, the roomiest of the line. For a wider calf, the Mini or Short avoids the issue, since the shaft stops below the widest part of the calf.
